Miami Middle School - About Us

Chief Little Turtle

Miami Middle School is named for the Miami Nation of Indians. The Miami villages were once located at the head of the Maumee River with Little Turtle serving as the military leader. Miami Middle School offers a variety of extra-curricular programs, athletic teams, band, Spell Bowl, Academic Bowl, Black History Bowl, academic clubs and My Brother’s Keeper.

The school was built in 1976. Miami is a Title I school and offers the English Language Learner program to students for whom English is a new language. Students attending Miami come from Maplewood Scott Academy and Waynedale elementary schools and feed into Wayne High School. The school is located in the Board of School Trustees District 5.
