Culinary Arts Students Launch CUBE 2.0

Culinary Arts students at the FWCS Career Academy will launch their business, The CUBE 2.0, Tuesday Sept. 10.

Culinary Ultimately Benefits Everyone (CUBE) offers a variety of menu items for lunch at a cost of just $5 or less. Customers have the option of a soup, sandwich or salad CUBE or a half and half combination. All CUBEs come with dessert.

The CUBE 2.0 operates Tuesday through Thursday. Each day of operation, customers order by 10 a.m. for meals to be prepared by lunch. CUBEs can also be ordered in advance for catering events. To be added to the distribution list for daily updates about orders, email ann.applegate@fwcs.k12.in.us.

This venture combines many aspects of culinary arts and restaurant management, providing real-world experience for the Advanced Culinary Arts students.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
