New Principal Appointed for Arlington Elementary

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees on Monday, Aug. 8, approved the appointment of a new principal for Arlington Elementary School for the 2016-17 school year.

David Weber, Arlington Elementary, Principal

David Weber joined FWCS in 1975. He worked as an elementary school teacher until he became principal of Maplewood Elementary in 1992. In 1996, he became a technology coordinator and returned to a principal position in 2004 as principal of Pleasant Center Elementary, which is now closed. In 2006, he moved to Glenwood Park Elementary where he has served as principal for 10 years. At Arlington, he replaces Diane Dikeolakos, who resigned. At Glenwood Park, retired Principal Stephany Bourne will fill in until a permanent replacement can be found.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
