FWCS Invites Parents to Review Curriculum Options

Fort Wayne Community Schools invites parents to review curriculum options being considered for teaching English/Language Arts at all grade levels.

FWCS is considering materials from HMH Into Reading, Fountas & Pinnell Classroom and Savvas myView for elementary school. For middle and high school, FWCS is considering HMH Into Reading and Savvas myPerspectives.

FWCS’ curriculum experts have reviewed the materials, and teachers will have a separate time to examine the curriculum options. Families are invited to attend meetings next week focused on the elementary options and the secondary options. Elementary materials will be presented at 6 p.m. Monday, March 7; middle and high school materials will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 9. Parents can attend in-person at the FWCS Family and Community Engagement Center, 230 E. Douglas Ave., or by Zoom (links listed below).

At the meetings, parents will hear a brief overview of the curriculum adoption process and a review of the potential materials. They will also have an opportunity to examine the resources and ask questions.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken.
